Visit of Honourable Union Minister of Culture & Tourism to Dodak Khadi Woollen Centre
On 29th May 2026, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Ji, Honourable Union Minister of Culture & Tourism, Government of India, visited the Dodak Khadi Woollen Centre in Soreng District. The visit marked a significant milestone for the local weaving community, highlighting the center's heritage of woollen craft and traditional Sikkim khadi production.
The delegation from the Sikkim Khadi & Village Industries Board (SKVIB) was led by Chief Executive Officer Shri Dorjee Sherpa, alongside Assistant Executive Officer Shri Chewang Topden Bhutia and Office Superintendent Shri Chewang Namgyal Bhutia. The Board represented the organization and extended a warm traditional welcome to the Honourable Union Minister, introducing him to the active projects and artisan initiatives at the Dodak center.

Discussions focused on promoting traditional khadi weaving, integrating regional tourism with local crafts, and strengthening support for rural livelihoods.
